PICKCR Announces a New Financial Privacy Architecture for Sports Clubs
ICKCR, a management platform for pickleball and racquet sports clubs, today announced the development of a new financial privacy architecture designed to protect each club’s strategic financial information through end-to-end encryption.
The proposal introduces a fundamental difference from the traditional cloud-based data management model: it is not only about encrypting stored data, but about designing the system so that PICKCR does not possess the key required to decrypt a club’s private financial information.
The question is: who holds the key?
Modern platforms use different encryption, security, and access-control mechanisms to protect customer information.
However, there is an important distinction between protecting data with encryption and building an architecture in which the platform provider does not have the technical ability to decrypt certain information.
Based on PICKCR’s review of publicly available information, we have not found evidence that major sports club management platforms such as Playtomic, Playbypoint, or MATCHi offer this same model of club-controlled financial encryption, in which the platform provider does not possess the key required to decrypt strategic financial reports.
PICKCR is not claiming that these platforms do not use encryption.
The difference lies elsewhere:
“Encrypting data is not enough. The real question is who has the technical ability to decrypt it.”
Privacy without sacrificing operations
PICKCR is not designed to turn the daily operation of a club into inaccessible information.
The information employees need to perform their jobs remains operational.
Staff can:
manage reservations;
record payments;
see who has paid;
identify outstanding balances;
manage individual sales;
manage inventory;
access invoices;
manage Open Play;
record and manage individual Open Play payments.
These are operational data points required to run a club.
The protection is focused on another layer: aggregated and strategic financial information that reveals the economic performance of the business.
This includes:
total sales;
aggregated revenue;
expenses;
aggregated purchases;
profit;
margins;
profitability;
financial closing reports;
financial reports;
economic performance indicators.
For example, knowing that a player paid $20 may be necessary to operate a club.
Knowing that the same club generated $85,000 in revenue, spent $40,000, and produced $45,000 in profit is strategic business information.
That is the information PICKCR is designed to protect.
A key controlled by the club
The proposed architecture uses a dedicated cryptographic key for each club location.
Strategic financial information is encrypted before it is stored in the cloud infrastructure.
Google Cloud forms part of the technology infrastructure, while the keys required to decrypt the financial information remain within the access-control model of the authorized users of the club.
The model allows the Owner to authorize an Administrator to access financial information, revoke that access, and rotate encryption keys when necessary.
The objective is clear:
The Superadmin can manage the PICKCR platform without automatically having the ability to open a club’s private financial reports.
Modern cryptography
PICKCR’s architecture incorporates modern cryptographic technologies, including:
AES-256-GCM
For authenticated encryption of financial information.
ECDH P-256
For establishing cryptographic material associated with authorized devices.
HKDF-SHA-256
For secure key derivation.
BIP39 and PBKDF2-SHA-256
For the cryptographic recovery mechanism.
The design also includes independent device keys, individual recovery, key wrapping, cryptographic key versions, and key rotation when required.
A different approach to internal access
The development responds to an increasingly important question for businesses using software as a service:
What happens when the platform itself has technical access to the most strategic information about your business?
The traditional answer has been to rely on privacy policies, access controls, internal security procedures, and organizational trust.
PICKCR is introducing an additional layer:
“It is not only about trusting that nobody will open your data. It is about designing the system so that they cannot.”
This approach reduces the access surface surrounding strategic financial information and makes privacy part of the technology architecture itself.
An architecture designed around real club operations
PICKCR does not propose encrypting every piece of data that contains a monetary value.
The platform establishes a clear boundary between operations and strategic finance.
An individual reservation remains operational.
An individual payment remains operational.
An invoice remains operational.
An individual store sale remains operational.
An individual Open Play payment remains operational.
But reports that aggregate this information and reveal the economic performance of a club belong to a protected financial layer.
This separation allows club staff to continue working normally while reducing unnecessary exposure of the business’s most strategic information.
The future of club management
With this architecture, PICKCR aims to establish a new approach to financial privacy in sports club management:
Operations in the cloud.
Operational data available to the people who need it.
Strategic financial information under the control of the club.
And a cryptographic architecture designed so that the platform provider does not possess a master key capable of opening its customers’ private financial information.
PICKCR
Smart management. Privacy by design.
About PICKCR
PICKCR is a management platform for sports clubs and communities, designed to centralize reservations, payments, Open Play, tournaments, inventory, and other club management operations.
The platform is developing its financial privacy architecture as part of its strategy to give clubs greater control over the strategic information generated by their businesses.
